Botox® and Dysport are purified proteins that are produced by the clostridium botulinum bacteria. There have been no serious side effects associated with their use by dermatologists. They are a natural, extremely safe, although temporary method of improving wrinkles and signs of aging of the face and neck. Botox can also

be used to treat excessive sweating under the arms or on the palms of the hands. Botulinum toxin works well for forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines. Purified botulinum toxin is injected into the muscle in these areas and works by weakening the muscle, which in turn lessens the lines of facial expression. The results last 3–6 months. By combining botulinum toxin with peels, daily alpha hydroxy acid, and tretinoin cream, a patient can look years younger without surgery.

Restylane and Juvederm are safe and natural cosmetic dermal fillers that restore fullness to the skin and lips and smooth moderate facial wrinkles and skin folds, such as nasolabial folds (laugh lines).

They made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid. Unlike other hyaluronic acid-based products, such as those made from rooster combs, only Restylane is non-animal-based. This quality virtually eliminates any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. As the skin ages, the amount of hyaluronic acid decreases, making the skin less elastic and resilient. These fillers simply restore that fullness and provide a smoother contour to the face.  These products are completely degraded, leaving absolutely no traces of the injected material in the body and can last from 3–6 months.
lyft-bigRestylane Lyft is also a safe non-animal based hyaluronic acid dermal filler.  It has many of the same qualities as Restylane however Restylane Lyft contains a larger concentration of hyaluronic acid than Restylane. Because of this higher concentration of hyaluronic acid, Restylane Lyft is usually used for deeper folds. The results of a Restylane Lyft treatment tend to last 6 months or more.

Sculptra® is a safe FDA approved synthetic material that is injected below the surface of the skin directly into the areas of the face that appear sunken or hollow.  Also known as the “liquid facelift,” Sculptra® works by stimulating your body to produce new collagen and underlying tissue.  Sculptra® also provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds, indentations, and sunken areas in the face. The results achieved by Sculptra® are natural looking and appear gradually over a few weeks to months time. Unlike many of the injectable facial fillers, the results achieved with Sculptra can last 2 years or more. (Results may vary among individuals.)  Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.

KYBELLA® is the only FDA-approved injectable imgrestreatment used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.”  Through its mechanism of action, Kybella has the added benefit of also tightening the skin in the area being treated. Once the desired results are achieved, retreatment is not usually necessary.

Fractional Laser Resurfacing

Using patented fractional technology, light is delivered as an array of small beams deep into the skin. This initiates a restorative, natural healing process, resulting in an improved skin appearance. This breakthrough technology is useful for the treatment of fine wrinkles, acne scars, traumatic scars, stretch marks, and melasma. Fractional laser resurfacing plays an essential role in non-surgical facial rejuvenation (along with Botox, dermal fillers, and “photofacial” treatments). Generally, four to six treatments are required to achieve maximal benefit. Patients can expect about 48 hours of redness and swelling after treatments.

Permanent Hair Reduction

Permanent hair reduction is achieved when the cells responsible for growing new hair are disabled. Light at specific wavelengths can target the pigment in hair follicles which absorb this light energy as heat. We can use specific wavelengths to target both finer and coarser hair as well as lighter hair on all skin types. We can treat large areas (i.e. back, chest, legs) as well as smaller areas (underarms and bikini lines).

Photofacials

(Photorejuvenation for Pigmented and Vascular Lesions)

Our photorejuvenation process uses the optimal wavelength of light to clear vascular and pigmented lesions by targeting hemoglobin (for vascular lesions) and melanin (for pigmented lesions). Once the light is absorbed as heat by the lesion, the lesion disappears. Photorejuvenation is effective on the face, arms, chest, and other large body areas. There is little or no patient downtime. Our process can remove damage caused by years of sun exposure and thus minimize the effects of aging.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid Peels

Alpha hydroxy acid is the term used for several naturally occurring acids found in fruits and other foods. These include lactic acid, derived from sour milk; citric acid, derived from citric fruit such as oranges; and glycolic acid, derived from sugar cane.  Alpha hydroxy acids are helpful in treating a variety of skin ailments. They have proven to be effective in treating dry skin, acne, liver or sun spots, lessening fine facial wrinkles, and improving skin texture. Recent studies have also shown that alpha hydroxy acids can reverse precancerous skin lesions, which are due to long term sun exposure. These acids have been shown to increase skin thickness up to 15% in patients with sun damaged thin skin. This occurs through the stimulation of collagen production, the skins natural support protein. Alpha hydroxy acids also work by loosening and removing dead skin cells.  Many people ask if alpha hydroxy acids are safe. It is important to point out that these acids are in many of the healthiest foods we eat and drink including orange juice. They are thought to be very safe when used correctly.  Alpha hydroxy acids can be used in low concentrations as found in many cosmetics available over the counter, in medium concentrations which are available in doctor’s offices, and in high concentrations. When used in high concentrations, they are best applied by a professional at intervals of three to six weeks. This is known as a series of acid peels. The alpha hydroxy acid used most commonly for peels is glycolic acid. Unlike other chemical peels, alpha hydroxy acids are not toxic to the skin.
